A christmas craft gift my toddler can make for family members.?
My 2 1/2 year old loves arts and crafts and I am looking for some ideas on things he could make (with my help of course) for everyone in the family. Things his aunt and uncle would enjoy as well as his grandparents and is useful and wouldn't end up lost or thrown away. Any ideas?

Buy some large plain canvas tote bags from the craft store along with a pack of Crayola fabric crayons. On some plain white paper, have him draw a special picture for each person then iron the picture onto the bag according to the instructions on the box of crayons. These bags make nice reusable grocery bags and are so personal,they won't be forgotten quickly.
Get some plain metalic christmas balls. He can decorate them with glitter glue and christmas stickers. If you put the date somewhere your family can put them on the tree every year, and remember when he did them
You could take some pictures of him and cut out shapes in foam and a hole for the picture and glue them all together with a magnet on the back for the family to put on their refrigerators. All items can be found cheap at walmart
Get some craft foam, the thin colorful stuff?
Cut it into about 3.5 inch circles.
Get some acrylic craft paint and have him put his handprint on each circle.
Give them in sets of four to family as coasters.
get a recipe for those bake ornaments that you can paint. he can use cookie cutters to make his shapes, you bake them, and you both can paint them! but remember to poke a big enough hole BEFORE you bake them for the rbbon to go thru
Snow men made out of Marshmellows, pretzels, and candy for butons, eyes, and the nose (in case he decides to try at taste) lol. Use frosting for glue too.
take a brown paper bag and open it up so that it lays flat and let them finger paint Christmas themes on them and use that for wrapping paper!
One year I got tea towels and fabric paint and had each child do hand prints on a tea towel. I then wrote the child's name and the year on it with the paint. They turned out really well and the tea towels are still used today. Its fun to compare the size of their hands with their hands today . . .
I've also made cornstarch dough and used cookie cutters to make ornaments. (The dough bakes to a porcelain like finish) After baking the cut out ornaments, I let my kids paint with acrylic paints (from the dollar store) I then dipped the ornaments in a clear shellac and hung them to dry. There are some great cookie cutters that have a top to them so they imprint an all over design. I found those at a dollar store too. My kids always pick out the ornaments they painted and the grandparents loved them!

One more idea is the picture frame idea. Micheal's sells wooden picture frames for a couple of bucks. I have let the kids paint them and attach buttons, glass pebbles, shells, puzzle pieces, even matchbox cars. I then put in a great picture of the child.

Crayola makes a soft clay that I flatten into a circle, put my kids' handprints in, poke a hole for a ribbon, then use glitter glue to put their name and the year on it. It makes a nice Christmas ornament, or just a decoration to hang on the wall. I've also tried putting magnets on them to hang on the fridge, but didn't have much luck with that....

I bought picture frames at wal-mart with three slots for pictures($2 to $3 a piece), some washable paint (I got crayola so it was about $5) and have pictures of the children together (a snapshot I took and got copies of 19 cents a piece). I plan on having the boys hand prints in the two outside slots of the picture frame with thier name and date at the bottom and their picture in the middle. I thought it would be cheap and cute for the boys to give their grandparents a picture and hand prints of them. Hopefully this helps!
