1969 proof kennedy half?
I was wondering if the kennedy half in the proof set is supposed to have a dimple near his upper lip?
thanks in advance
Answer:
I have not heard of such variety as well. It could be a striking error when a foreign object falls in between the planchet and die when a coin is struck, causing a dimple. I guess someone needs to see the coin before giving you any further evaluation. Try to compare your 1969 Kennedy with this below:

Then you'll have your answer to whether a 1969 proof is supposed to have a dimple.
As I told you before, I have never heard of it. but you could send an email to answerman2@aol.com. That is the address for Alan Herbert who writes the Numismatic News section called Coin Clinic. He may come back and ask, for a photo or scan of it however. I have never heard of it as a variety, put it this way it is not listed in the books. It could be an error or just damage. A person who is an error expert is Ken Potter he can be reached at ken@koinpro.com. Try Alan Herbert first.
